Made to Measure

Why This Drapery Hangs Better

A window curtain off a shelf is a rectangle. Custom drapery is engineered: weighted hems, matched patterns, and fullness calculated to your windows.

True Custom Sizing

Every panel is cut to your measured window and ceiling height, so hems kiss the floor instead of guessing at it.

Pattern Matching

Repeats aligned across panels and seams, the detail that quietly separates custom from catalog.

Linings That Work

Light-filtering, room-darkening, and thermal linings chosen for the room's sun, not as an afterthought.

Hardware Engineered In

Rods, tracks, and motorized traverse systems specced to the fabric's weight from day one.

Bring Your Vision to Light

You know how you want your home to feel. We know how to get it there. Book an in-home consultation and we'll walk your rooms together, window by window.

How a Project Works

[Stage 1] Talk It Through

Start in our showroom or book an in-home consultation. We listen first: how the room is used, what the light does, what's been bothering you.

[Stage 2] Design and Decide

We narrow the options to what actually fits your windows, your style, and the way you live, with real samples in your hands.

[Stage 3] Measure and Make

We measure every opening ourselves, then your treatments are custom built to those exact dimensions. No stock sizes, no almost-fits.

[Stage 4] Install and Enjoy

Our installer hangs every piece, dials in the operation, and walks you through it. We don't leave until it works the way it should.

Custom drapery means the panel begins with your window, your fabric, and your room. Hunter Douglas Design Studio builds it to those facts; nothing on a store shelf works that way.

Truly Custom, Start to Finish

Hunter Douglas Design Studio™ Drapery

Custom fabric drapery here is the Hunter Douglas Design Studio program, which starts with a decision tree no catalog can offer: hundreds of Design Studio fabrics (or a fabric you bring us), header styles from tailored pinch pleats to relaxed ripple folds, and linings from airy to blackout. Those choices set the panel's hand, the way it drapes and moves, which is why we make them with samples hanging in your own light. Whether the room wants formal silk-look panels or washed-linen ease, the engineering underneath is the same Design Studio standard, and the Hunter Douglas warranty stands behind it.

Made Like It Matters

Custom made drapes earn their keep in details that bagged panels skip: fullness cut to the window so folds are deep rather than stretched, pattern repeats matched across seams and pairs, weighted hems that keep edges plumb, and blind-stitched finishes that disappear. Lengths are built to your measured floor, not a standard number, so panels kiss or puddle exactly as designed. These are made-to-measure Design Studio panels, finished to a standard a store-bought rectangle never reaches.

Installed as a System

Panels are half the product; the other half is how they hang and travel. We spec rods, tracks, and PowerView-compatible motorized traverse hardware to the finished fabric weight, mount high and wide to grow the window, and dress every fold by hand before we leave. The result is custom drapes and curtains that operate like furniture-grade hardware and photograph like the rooms that made you want custom window curtains in the first place.

The process is simpler than the result suggests. A consultation, at the showroom or your home, settles fabric, lining, header, and hardware with samples in hand. We measure, the Design Studio panels are built to those numbers, and installation finishes with every fold steamed and dressed. Because selection, ordering, and installation all run through one local dealer, nothing gets lost between a designer's intent and a finished window, and adjustments are a conversation rather than a shipping dispute. If you've been carrying a fabric swatch around for a year waiting for the right excuse, this is the page that turns it into drapery.

FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

How does custom fabric drapery differ from store-bought curtains?

Everything is built to your window instead of to a shelf. Fullness, length, lining, header, and pattern matching are all calculated and sewn to your measurements, then installed on hardware rated for the panel. Store panels approximate a window; custom drapery is engineered to one.

What fabrics work best in Florida's climate?

Performance weaves, linens and linen blends, and solution-dyed fabrics that shrug off strong UV. South- and west-facing windows get fade-resistant choices and proper linings; humid rooms get fibers that breathe. We narrow the libraries to what survives your exposure before you fall in love with anything fragile.

What drapery header styles are available?

All the working ones: pinch and French pleats for tailored rooms, inverted pleats for clean minimalism, ripple fold for modern tracks and motorization, grommet and rod-pocket for casual spaces, and goblet for the formal few. The header sets how the panel stacks and moves, so we choose it alongside the hardware.
