Born in the Workroom
Shade Number Seven grew up next to a family upholstery workroom, and this product line is that heritage on a page. Cornices built and wrapped by hand. Slipcovers patterned to your actual sofa. Drapery sewn to the half inch. Hardware specced like the engineering it is. These aren't products we order so much as products we make, which changes what's possible: your fabric, your dimensions, your odd-shaped window, your grandmother's chair. When a request starts with “this might be unusual,” it usually ends up here, and we say yes more often than anyone expects.
One Team Across the Whole Room
The quiet advantage of the custom line is coherence. The same people who dress your windows can cover your sofa from the same fabric library, build the cornice that crowns the drapery, and motorize the whole arrangement so it moves on schedule. Rooms designed in pieces look like it; rooms designed by one team read as finished. That's why these eight pages live together: most of our favorite projects draw from three or four of them at once.
How to Start
Start anywhere. Bring a photo of the room, a fabric you love, or the one window that's been bothering you for a year. We'll meet you in the showroom, which sits beside the workroom itself, or come to your home with samples in hand. From there the process is the same four steps as everything we do: talk it through, design and decide, measure and make, install and enjoy.
A practical note on how clients actually use this line: most projects begin with one need, a cornice, a slipcover, a single motorized room, and grow as the workroom earns trust. That's by design. Every measurement and fabric choice stays on file, so the second project starts further ahead than the first, and a whole-home look assembles over seasons instead of demanding one giant decision. The showroom and workroom share a wall in Palm Coast, which means you can watch the craft happen before you commit to it. Few window businesses can offer that, and it's the part of ours we're proudest to show off.
